Skill Development Program on Solar Photo Voltaic Systems

Solar Projects do not have a high success rate in rural areas as after sales service and maintenance is not available.

An innovative approach to Train Local Youth in basic design and assemble Lamps and Photovoltaic panels will not only reduce the cost of installation and access to after sales services, it will also generate a long term sustainable livelihood for youth in the region.

SLRD is presently executing the first stage of Solar PV Skill development project in South West Garo Hills, West Garo Hills and South Garo Hills toskill local youth with skills to install and maintain Solar Photo Voltaic Systems.

SLRD has also been appointed as the Project Management Unit to the Power Department, Government of Meghalaya to facilitate and encourage large scale use of renewable energy sources to fulfil the energy needs of Meghalaya.
