Who We Are

A 360° sustainable development institution.

For over 23 years, SLRD has worked at the intersection of the two defining challenges of our time — sustainable development and climate change.

The School of Livelihood & Rural Development consults, structures and executes large-scale projects with State and Central Governments, multilateral agencies, enterprises and grassroots communities. We believe the most durable solutions are built with communities, not delivered to them.

Our work blends grassroots delivery, farmer-institution strengthening, natural-resource management and green enterprise into scalable, measurable models — rooted in local realities, rigorous in their outcomes, and designed to be replicated across India’s diverse rural landscapes.

SLRD is an initiative of Gyanav Social & Welfare Society, a not-for-profit registered under the Societies Registration Act (Reg. No. MP 12160/03).

Integrated Biochar, Biofertiliser & Essential Oil Units

Our signature model — seven integrated units that turn farm and forest biomass into biochar, biofertiliser and distilled essential oils. Combined with agroforestry and watershed development, they regenerate soil, secure water, lock carbon and raise farm incomes in a single closed-loop, circular-economy system.
